USA's Mike Ingham Extends Lead Heading into Final Day of
J/24 North American Championship

Riviera Nayarit, Mexico--March 20, 2014--American helmsman Mike Ingham has opened up a 10-point advantage going into the final day of competition at the J/24 North American Championship in Mexico. Sailing Digger with Tim Healy (current J/24 World Champion), Enrique Pirez-Cirera, Marianne Schoke and Max Holzer, Ingham absorbed his worst score so far--dropping an 8 in race seven. Digger has totaled just 12 overall points in the seven races, leaving a line of 1,2,3,1,4,1. Former J/24 World Champion Mauricio Santa Cruz of Brazil with his Bruschetta team is lurking in second place with 22 points. Ian Ilsley's Jobbit of Monaco and Tony Parker's Bangor Packet of the USA are also within striking distance.

 

Thirty-seven teams from Brazil, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Monaco, Peru, Sweden and the United States enjoyed another gorgeous day in the Riviera Nayarit. With its typical sunny skies and warm temperatures, breezes again began around 6-8 knots, and Ingham again won the day's opening race. Fellow American Mark Laura on Baba Louie was positioned in second and Santa Cruz third. Winds grew to 10-12 in the next contest when Mexican Joaquin Bargallo earned the bullet, trailed by Parker and Alex Luiz's Tango of Brazil.

American Mike Ingham Holds Advantage at
J/24 North American Championship

Riviera Nayarit, Mexico--March 19, 2014--Mike Ingham of the United States continued posting steady scores to maintain his lead on day two of the J/24 North American Championship in Mexico. Sailing Digger, Ingham recorded another first, plus a fourth (which was dropped), leaving the team with only 7 points after five races. Ian Ilsley's Jobbit of Monaco kept his hold on second place with 11 points, as did Mauricio Santa Cruz's Bruschetta of Brazil with third place and 14 points.

 

The Riviera Nayarit again greeted competitors with stunning conditions for the 37 teams from Brazil, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Monaco, Peru, Sweden and the United States. With clear skies and warm winds starting off around 6-8 knots, Ingham notched his second win of the event, shadowed by Ilsley and Jeronimo Landauer's JJONE of Germany. Breezes piped up to 12-14 with gusts to 16 in the next duel, won by sixteen-year-old Brayan Matthew's Tango Jr. of Brazil. Fellow Brazilian Santa Cruz was runner-up, and American Tony Parker's Bangor Packet in third.

Mike Ingham of USA Grabs Early Lead at
J/24 North American Championship

Riviera Nayarit, Mexico--March 18, 2014--Mike Ingham of the United States jumped out to the initial advantage on day one of the J/24 North American Championship in Mexico. Sailing Digger with current J/24 World Champion Tim Healy on board, Ingham placed within the top three in each of Tuesday's three contests (1,2,3) for 6 points thus far. Ian Ilsley's Jobbit of Monaco is just three points back in second place, and previous J/24 World Champion Mauricio Santa Cruz of Brazil on Bruschetta is in third with 16 points.

 

Conditions in the gorgeous Riviera Nayarit were beautiful as expected for the 37 competitors from Brazil, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Monaco, Peru, Sweden and the United States. Under blue skies with warm temperatures, winds began around 8-10 knots when Ingham won the opening race. Jeronimo Landauer's JJONE of Germany followed in second, and Santa Cruz in third. Breezes increased to 10-12 knots with gusts to 14 in the next battle when the USA's Tony Parker helmed Bangor Packet to first, while Ingham and Ilsley completed the top three. Winds returned to around 8 knots in the day's final bout. Ilsley snatched the bullet, with Javier Valasquez Robinson's Trinquete of Mexico in the runner-up spot, and then Ingham.

There will also be taxi service available at the Resort.

There will be complimentary transportation to and from the Marina on Friday, march 21st for the gala awards dinner, where we remind you that the dress code is WHITE.

The J 24 North American Championship/Copa Mexico is quickly approaching and we are all very excited and looking forward to a great event with good winds and warm waters! We are moving boat already from Valle de Bravo to Vallarta and preparing some great after racing activities for all of the participants and guests

.• On Sunday, March 16th the Marival Resort will host a welcome cocktail at 7:30 PM to inaugurate the event at their beach club. 

• Monday after racing there will be a dinner sponsored by Front Door at 5:00 PM

• Tuesday dinner will be sponsored by Jaguar Guadalajara 

• Don't miss the Brazilian teams party on Wednesday where authentic drinks and dishes from that beautiful country will served!

• Volaris airlines will host dinner on Thursday 

• Culminating the event Marina Riviera Nayarit will host the closing and awards ceremony at the beach by the Marina at 7:30 PM, with only one race that day, there will be plenty of time to clean up and come to the gala dinner where the organizing committee is requesting that everyone dress in white beach smart casual attire. 

As you can see we are planning a memorable event where everyone will have plenty of R&R after racing!!

The year 2013 has come to an end, it was a very good one with many excellent races and everyone is excited for the North American Championship/Copa Mexico next March 16th to 22nd to be held in Vallarta/Nayarit, at the La Cruz Yacht Club in Nayarit. There are already 53 boats paid and registered with many of the world's top sailors in attendance. Such as Mauricio Santa Cruz from Brazil, there are five teams coming from Brazil. Mike Ingham, Tony Parker, Chris Snow and many of the USA's best sailors are also coming. We have teams from Monaco, Germany, Sweden, Japan, Peru, Canada and many others totaling over ten countries. We are receiving many enquiries so we foresee a fleet of around 60 to 70 boats!

If you haven't signed up yet, hurry as this promises to be another great event!

 

Warm waters, winds from 12 to 25 knots, plenty of sunshine and the already famous parties await you at the arguably best sailing venue worldwide...

Dear Fellow J 24 sailors:

 

We are only 114 days away from the North Americans/Copa Mexico!!!

We have 52 boats which have paid and registered, from ten different countries, some of the world's top sailors are confirmed, ensuring a great level of competition!! 

With four months to go we are expecting a great event with many more J 24 sailors signing up as the date gets closer and closer...

We therefore would like to let you know about some important information for you to take into account for your trip to Vallarta.


Marival All Inclusive Resort

The rooms with the discounted rate must be reserved before December 15th we encourage you to reserve you rooms before then with reservation code G 2352.

After December 15th, the discounted rate will not be available, so we urge you to make your reservations right away!

 

Marival Residences has no discounted rooms

 

AVIS rent a car will be offering special rates for all participants, we will inform you of the reservation code for this shortly.

 

There is the possibility of staying at the Hotel La Estancia which is also very close by and we will be inform you of the special rates and reservation codes soon.

 

Those of you who have chartered boats please be advised that the rental and transportation costs are due BEFORE January 31st. Since we need to begin sending boats to Vallarta by then.

 

There will be a refundable deposit of 500 USD when you receive your charter.

 

Following please find an advance of the events program:

 

Saturday, March 15th.

Registration and Measurement, we will be doing a simplified version of measuring.

Refreshments and beer available to participants as well as Subway sandwiches at the Villa.

Osos restaurant on the same pier will be open as well for us.

 

Sunday, March 16th. 

Measurement continues, refreshments and beer available at the Villa.

Inauguration ceremony at 18:30 hrs at the Marival Resort Beach.

 

Monday, March 17th.

Skipper's meeting at 11:00 hrs. at the Villa. 

Honors to the flag and official inauguration immediately following.

Practice Race, with Food and Drinks at the Villa with DJ music.

 

Tuesday, March 18th.

Three races are scheduled, after racing there will be food and drink at the Villa 

with an award ceremony and DJ music.

 

Wednesday, March  19th.

Three races are scheduled, after racing there will a Brazilian night sponsored by our Brazilian competitors and an award ceremony.

 

Thursday, March 20th.

Three races are scheduled, after racing there will be food and drink at the Villa 

with an award ceremony and DJ music.

 

Friday, March 21st.

Only one race scheduled for that day.

The closing and awards ceremony will be held at the beach at the Cruz de Huanacaxtle, an all white dress code is requested.

 

Please bear in mind that your charter must be returned in the same condition it was received for the return of your deposit.

Estimados Veleristas,

Cada vez está más cerca la fecha del Campeonato Norteamericano / Copa México 2014, ya contamos con 52 barcos con inscripción pagada por lo que esperamos un gran evento con muchos de los veleristas de diez países mas destacados  de nuestra clase inscritos. Por lo que a continuación les proporcionamos información importante que deberán considerar:

Hospedaje hotel Marival Residences - no hay disponibilidad.

Hospedaje hotel Marival Resort -  Las habitaciones con precio especial estarán disponibles hasta el 15 de diciembre, les pedimos realizar sus reservaciones antes de esa fecha, no olviden mencionar el código de reservación  G 2352.

Después el día 15 de Diciembre no habrán tarifas preferenciales.

AVIS, nos proporcionará descuentos en la renta de automóviles, en breve les informaremos..

El Hotel la Estancia - es otra opción, está muy cerca de Marival., nos ofrece una tarifa especial que pronto les daremos a conocer con el Código de reservación.

Aprovechamos para darles un adelanto del programa del evento:

Sábado 15 de marzo  - Medición.  Habrá agua, cervezas, refrescos y sándwiches de Subway, el restaurante Osos junto al Mercado del Mar ofrecerá servicio a los participantes.

Domingo 16 de marzo - Medición.  Habrá agua, cervezas, refrescos y sándwiches Subway.   Ceremonia de inauguración y coctel en la playa de Marival Resort a las 18:30 horas.

Lunes 17 de marzo - Junta de Capitanes 11:00 horas.   Inauguración e izamiento de bandera inmediatamente después.  Regata de Prueba y al terminar, comida  y música de DJ en la Villa. 

Martes 18 de marzo - Se correrán 3 pruebas.  Al terminar las pruebas del día, comida, música de DJ, entrega de reconocimientos en la Villa.

Miércoles 19 de marzo - Se correrán 3 pruebas.  Al terminar las pruebas del día, entrega de reconocimientos y habrá una Fiesta Brasileira patrocinada por los veleristas brasileiros en la Villa.

Jueves 20 de marzo -  Se correrán 3 pruebas.  Al terminar las pruebas del día, entrega de reconocimientos, música de DJ y comida en la Villa.

Viernes 21 de marzo -  Habrá una sola prueba.  La ceremonia de clausura se llevara a cabo en la playa de la Marina La Cruz de Huanacaxtle así como la  premiación, se les solicita que todos vistan de blanco.

No habrá transporte local, en caso de conseguirlo, se les informará más adelante.

North American Championship 2014

The North American Championship will take place on the waters of Bahia de Banderas (Vallarta) from March 16th through the 21st. This is definitely a regatta NOT to be missed, so mark your calendars and make plans to attend this event which will be part of the



Copa Mexico in its third edition. Those of you who have attended the past two editions or the 2007 Worlds there can attest to the excellent sailing conditions at Bahia de Banderas (Vallarta).



With winds shifting from 10 to 15 knots and gusts of 18-20 and more, varying conditions from race to race, beautiful warm weather and great hospitality make it arguably one of the finest venues worldwide to practice our sport.



The bay is one of the largest in North America and is easily accessible by many of the large airlines with direct flights from most of the major hubs in the USA and Canada, as well as, Latin America and Europe making it convenient to get to from wherever you are visiting us from.



The host club will again be the Marina Riviera Nayarit located at the Cruz de Huanacaxtle on the north side of the bay is ready to receive all of the participants with their accustomed excellent hospitality. The town itself, not long ago a sleepy fishing village, has seen tremendous growth recently due to the marina. Now with many great restaurants catering to every palate from international cuisine to real authentic Mexican food from both the region and the country.


There is also a chandlery and spare parts store with a huge selection within walking distance!



Close by is the town of Puerto Vallarta offering a taste of a real Mexican town with its cobblestone streets and buildings hundred of years old,  art galleries and exquisite food for all tastes, plus night life that is unparalleled!!



This alone would be reason enough to visit this beautiful bay, but if you add the superb sailing and weather conditions, plus friendly people and great parties, it is  definitely A NOT TO BE MISSED REGATTA!!!

After that date it will have a late registration fee of 600 USD. So hurry up and register!
