 2do. Lugar se lo llevó Tim Healy de USA  y tripulación:  London Bonges, Chris Morgan, Geoft Becker y Mónica Trejo  en el 11th. Hour Racing. 

3er. Lugar para Chris Snow de USA y tripulación:  Chuck Allen, Dave Reed, Rich Bowen y George Witter en el Bogus.

4to. Lugar fue para Mike Ingham de USA y tripulación: Enrique Pérez-Cirera, Max Hoelzer, Bobby Bryant y Marianne Schoke en el Blue Demon . 

5to. Lugar para  Kenneth Porter de México y tripulación:  Gerrit Gentry, Luis Vázquez Mota, Daniel Baños y Kenneth Porter Galindo en el barco Comex.

6to. Lugar para Vernon Robert de Chile y tripulación:  Daniel González, Claudio León, Gonzálo Campero y Eduardo Ampudia en la Joyita.

 7° se lo llevó Javier Velásquez de México y tripulación:  Yon Belausteguigoitia, y Oficiales de Marina en el barco Banamex.

 8° fue para Carlos Alvarez de México y tripulación:  Jerónimo Cervantes, Jorge Murrieta, Carlos Padilla, Hug Mcarty y Bill Stein en el Monster Fish. 

9° para  Jan-Marc Ulrich de Alemania y tripulación:  Stefan Karsunke, Arnd Howar, Tim Habmost Y marc Daniel Mahmann con el barco Rotoman.

10° para Ian Isley  de Mónaco y tripulación:  Francosi Brenal, Philippe Bowchart, Phillippe Ventura y Robert Moner en el Temptation.  Felicidades a todos los ganadores!

Cabe mencionar que dentro de estos 10 primeros lugares tuvimos 3 tripulaciones mexicanas, por lo que doblemente felicitamos a Kenneth porter, Javier Velásquez y Carlos Alvarez.  Muy bien hecho!!!!

Deliciosa cena muy concurrida, más de 450 personas, Juegos artificiales  y excelente música con el grupo de rock "Fruta Madura", mejor aún nuestro animador Peter Wiegandt, quien se disfrazó de un personaje de los 70's y nos puso a bailar a todos al ritmo de "Satisfaction" de los Rolling Stones.

Por último queremos agradecer a todos los Patrocinadores, Comité Organizador, Comités de regata, Jueces, personal de apoyo, participantes, al Club de Yates la Cruz de Huanacaxtle, a la Secretaría de Marina, al Gobierno Federal, a la Secretaría de Turismo, al Gobierno del estado de Nayarit y a nuestro presidente de la Clase J24 Mexicana, Peter Wiegandt por ese entusiasmo para organizar este tipo de eventos.

A great celebration during the award ceremony at the Jetty! Trophies were presented to the first 10 places overall.

We congratulate the winner of this edition of Copa Mexico.

We would like to mention that within these first 10 places, we had 3 Mexican crews, and therefore we would like to make a special mention to Kenneth Porter, Javier Velásquez and Carlos Alvarez.  Very well done!!!!

At the award ceremony, a delicious dinner was served for over 450 people, there were fireworks and great music by the live rock band "Fruta Madura", and the best of the night was our entertainer Peter Wiegandt, who was all decked out in his hippest 70's attire and took us all back in time dancing to the rhythm of the Rolling Stones "Satisfaction"

Septimo día Copa México

Día Siete.-  Iniciamos tarde las regatas debido al cambio del viento, además tuvimos que mover las pistas, incluso el barco comité, viento de 16 nudos con rachas entre 18 y 20 nudos.  Felicidades a los ganadores del la primera regata la tripulación del Blue Demon, con Mike Ingham de Estados Unidos y a los ganadores de la segunda regata para Bruschetta y tripulación de Brasil.

Reconocimientos para Rafael Alcantara, Jorge Castillo, Javier Velásquez, Andrés Gerard, Jueces de protesta, Enrique Pérez-Cirera, Leopoldo Farías, y Laura Neale.  A los ganadores de las regatas de hoy:  Mike Ingham y Mauricio Santa Cruz.

Day  Seven- We started late due to wind changes, we ended up having to change the course, including the committee boat. Winds of 16 knots with gusts of 18 and 20 kts  where prevalent- Congratulations to the winning crews.  .The winners of the first race where the crew of Blue Demon with Like Ingham at the helm  from the USA.  Winners of the second race were Bruschetta  and the crew from Brazil.

Sexto Día, 3er. día de regata.

Estimados amigos Veleristas

Día Seis.-  El viento inició con 8 nudos, subió a 12 y en la segunda prueba bajó a 4 nudos por lo que se tuvo que recortar el recorrido y acortar la prueba, algunos barcos no terminaron debido a las condiciones del viento.  Un incidente entre el Carisma y el Pisco Sour.  Felicidades a los ganadores de las dos pruebas de hoy;  Kenneth Porter y tripulación a bordo del Comex y en la segunda prueba del día Blue Demon timoneado por Mike Ingham.

Reconocimientos para Nikolay Borissov, Mike Danielson, Kenneth Porter y a los ganadores de las regatas de hoy:  Kenneth Porter y Mike Ingham.

Day  Six-

The wind started with 8 knots, it went up to 12 and in the second race it went back down to 4 knots, so the course had to be shortened.  Some boats did not finish due to the wind conditions.  There was only one incident between Carisma and Pisco Sour. Congratulations to the winners of both of the races today; Kenneth Porter (MEX) on board Comex and Mike Ingham (USA) on board Blue Demom.

Recognition awards were given to Nikolay Borissov, Mike Danielson and Kenneth Porter for their support in the organization of the event.  Also,bullet awards were given to Kenneth Porter and Mike Ingham.

Día Cinco.-  Poco viento entre 6 y 8 nudos por lo que se tuvieron que acortar las dos regatas se tuvieron que acortar las dos pistas.  Felicidades al 1er. Lugar de la primera regata, Tim Healy y tripulación de Estados Unidos en el barco 11th Hour Racing; y el 1er. Lugar de la 2da. Regata se lo llevó Robert Vernon y tripulación de Chile en el barco La Joyita.  7 protestas y por suerte no tuvimos ningún incidente.

Queremos recordarles que este es un evento náutico deportivo, el cual se rige por las reglas que establece el Comité Organizador en base a las reglas oficiales que se practican para su organización; en ningún momento puede haber ningún tipo de autoridad que interfiera en este deporte que es de caballeros y competencia justa.  Instamos a evitar cualquier tipo de amenazas o riesgos que puedan afectar la integridad de los competidores y del buen funcionamiento de este magnífico evento.

Reconocimientos para miembros del Comité de Regatas, al Zancudo, nuestro Carpintero de Rivera.  Trofeos para Tim Healy de USA y Vernon Robert de Chile.

Day five- Little wind between 6 and 8 knots, causing both courses to be shortened. Congratulations to the first place in the first race, Tim Healy and his crew from the USA in the Eleventh Hour Racing boat. First place in the second regatta went to Robert Vernon from Chile in the La Joyita boat. Seven protests, luckily no incidents this day-

We would like to remind you that this is a nautical sporting event which is governed by the rules established by the Organizing Committee for that purpose. Which are in place for its organization, at no time can any outside authority interfere with this gentleman´s sport with a fair competition. We urge you to avoid any type of threats or risks that might affect the integrity of competitors and the functioning of this magnificent event.

Recognitions for the members of the of the race committee were awarded, Joel A. Rodriguez (Zancudo) our boat repairman, and all all opf his crew. Trophies for Tim Healy and from USA and Vernon Robert form Chile.

4to. Día

5 de marzo del 2012.

Estimados amigos Veleristas

Cuarto Día.-  Hoy comenzamos con la ceremonia de Honores a la Bandera con la presencia del Gobernador del Estado de Nayarit y  Banda de Guerra a cargo de la Marina.

Se corrieron dos regatas, muy buen viento en la primera regata, regata abandonada y segunda con poco viento terminando a las 5 de la tarde. Algunas protestas, también algunos incidentes, pero fue un muy buen día para la mayoría de los competidores sobre todo para Santa Cruz quien se llevó las dos regatas.

Reconocimientos para miembros del Comité Organizador; Rosalía Lechuga, Ulises Téllez, Marcela Velázquez, Javier Campos, Miguel Bargalló y por supuesto que para Mauricio Santa Cruz y tripulación de Brasil.

Dear friends and sailors:

Fourth day.- Today we began with a ceremony to honor the flag of Mexico with the presence of the governor of the state of Nayarit and the Mexican Navy band.

We had two regattas, very good wind for the first race, then an abandon race due to a strong wind shift and the second race with very little wind ending at 5:00 PM. Some protests and a few incidents, but all in all a very good day for most competitors especially for Mauricio Santa Cruz who took both bullets.

Recognitions were awarded to some members of the organizing committee; Rosalia Lechuga, Ulises Tellez, Marcela Velazquez, Javier Campos, Miguel Bargallo and of course Mauricio Santa Cruz and his crew from Brazil were awarded the bullet trophies for the day.

3er. Dia Copa México

Estimados amigos Veleristas

Tercer día.-  Terminamos con registro y medición de embarcaciones.  El 98% de los barcos ya están en el agua.  30 barcos a la regata de prueba, el viento estuvo en 18 nudos y con rachas de 20.

Marival Residences se vistió de Folklor con el Ballet del Estado de Nayarit en la Fiesta de inauguración, tuvimos la presencia del Secretario del Estado en representación del Gobernador. 

Gracias a nuestro patrocinador "Don Roberto" por la excelente cena.

Mañana tendremos la Ceremonia oficial de apertura a las 11:00 horas en la Villa Copa México y posteriormente nos vamos todos a la regata.

2do. Día Copa México

Estimados amigos Veleristas,

Segundo día de la Copa México; continuamos con registro, medición y peso, excelente disposición de parte de todos los competidores y también de los medidores!  Ya están en el agua 29 barcos, sólo faltan 21 por completar todo su registro. 

Mañana a las 11:30 será la junta de capitanes en la Villa Copa México, es importante que asistan;  a las 19:30 horas tendremos la Ceremonia de inauguración en Marival Residences en donde tendremos la presencia de autoridades federales, estatales y municipales, así como personalidades del mundo del deporte, además empresarios de la región.  Si requieren comprar boletos para acompañantes o familiares, pueden pasar a la tienda de la Villa Copa y comprarlos.

Habrán autobuses disponibles en Marival Resort y Residences en los siguientes horarios:

08:00, 08:15, 08:30, 08;45, 10:30 y 10:45 todos los días.

The second day of the Copa Mexico, we continued with registration, measurement and weigh in, with and excellent disposition from all of the competitors and the measurers! We have 29 boats in the water with only 21 about to complete small details for their registration.
 
Tomorrow, at  11:30hrs we will hold the skipper´s meeting at the Villa Copa Mexico, it is very important that all assist; at 19:30 hrs we will have the official event inauguration at the MARIVAL RESIDENCES where will have the presence of federal. state and municipal authorities, as well as, personalities from the sports world and local businessmen.
If you need extra tickets for family and friends you may purchase them at the Villa Copa Mexico souvenir store.
 
There will be buses available for all participants, at Marival  Resort and Residences with the following schedule to transport you to the Marina at La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
 
8:00, 8:15, 8:30, 8:45, 10:30, and 10:45 every  day.

I am pleased to communicate that everything is set to go for the second edition of the Regata Copa Mexico. Please use this information to pass it on to your crews on the events and activities we have planned.

Accommodations and transportation:
Marival Resort and Marival Residences will be the official regatta hotels. Negotiated rates have are published please see www.j24mex and go to Regata Copa México 2012. Just call to make a reservation and say you are coming to the Regata Copa Mexico. Our contact is Javier Fernández www.javier@regattacopamexico.com for any questions. Javier has already booked most of the international visitors and can also help with the national crews
Transportation to the Marina Riviera Nayarit. We will have daily buses leaving at 8am, 8:30am and 9:30 starting on March 2nd. Buses will return to the hotels from the Marina at 5pm , 7pm and 9pm. . Our contact is Javier Fernández www.javier@regattacopamexico.com for any questions

Registration:
Registration will start at 10am on March 2nd at the Villa Copa México in Marina Riviera Nayarit. Jorge Castillo jorge.castillo@adm.com and Rosalía Lechuga nauticov@prodigy.net.mx will be in charge of all registrations

Rental boats: all rental boat will be at the Marina at assigned slots based on the bow number. There will be one host for every three rentals. This host will check you into your boats as well as check you out on March 10th. You will have to sign a waiver and leave a security deposit of $1,250 dollars. The persons responsible for the rental boats are Enrique Perez Cirera enrique@regattacopamexico.com and Elias Fares fareselias@hotmail.com
Boat insurance: In order to be eligible to race, each boat is required to have a minimum of $25,000.00 marine liability insurance. In order to obtain the insurance offered by the Organizing Committee, each helmsman will need to provide the following information and pay US$70.00 to the Mex J24 Class administration prior registration. In case it is a chartered boat, you will still need to provide the information under point a) and b). The insurance is a marine liability insurance (P&I) only and the coverage will be from March 2nd-11th. All national boats please provide a, b and c to Rosalía Lechuga as soon as possible.

J24 Class fees: all "National J24 Class" and "International J24 Class Association" fees for 2012 need to be paid before registration can be completed. We are getting confirmation from the J24 class based on the information provided during registration.

Boat Measurement:
We will only weigh the boats and measure sails that have not been measured by the J24 International Technical Committee. Kenneth Porter kenporters@hotmail.com will be in charge of measurement operations
Measurement will start on March 2nd at 10am and will finish on March 4th at 6pm
We will provide refreshments and a light lunch during measurement.

Practice race and skipper meeting:
On March 4th at 2pm we will hold a practice race
Skippers meeting will be held at the Villa Copa México on March 4th at 11am.

Inaugural dinner:
The inauguration dinner will be held at the Marival Residences (walking distance for Marival Resort) at 7:30pm. Dinner will be sponsored by Organizing Committee.

PRO and Judges:
PRO for the regatta will be Bruce Green supported by Nicolay Borissov
International judges will be Francisco Sanchez, Lorne Chapman and Don Becker.

Race week events:
We are planning to have 10 races, just like last time
We will provide food and beverage (alcoholic and non-alcoholic from Monday 5th through Thursday 8th at the Villa Copa México. Lunch/dinner will be served right after the last race of the day
We are aligning sponsors for all these events and for now we will have a costumes party (material for costumes will be provided) on Tuesday March 6th as well as a Bossaball tournament (thttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwI8REP_fZ0) on Thursday March 8th...get ready to party
We will have lunch boxes available every morning at the Villa Copa Mexico, these lunch boxes need to be ordered the day before at the Villa. Lucia Mijares lucia@plugmkt.com will be the Villa Master that will coordinate everything around the Villa. Lunch boxes will have a recovery cost.

Award Ceremony:
Comex is our host for the closing and award ceremony on Friday March 9th at 7:30pm. We will have a great rock concert with a group from Guadalajara (Fruta Madura) and food will be provided by Marival. This is planned to be a great party.

Boat returns and pull-outs:
Rentals will be pulled out first ,some of them we might do on Friday, but most of the boats will be pulled out on Saturday and will be checked out with the host then

Our expectation is to put together a much improved event over 2010 edition, we would appreciate any feedback after the event to make sure we keep improving for the 2014 edition. I you have any question(s) please don't hesitate to contact me, or any of the members of the organizing committee.
